By Kelsey Jay on November 27, 2023

  1. What’s the best part about your residency experience:
The people! I think everyone in the program has been incredibly supportive, receptive to feedback, and help create a friendly, collegial culture.
  2. What are you most looking forward to in your career ahead:
Probably the flexibility of making my own schedule and practicing in a diversity of settings (I get bored if I do too much of the same thing!)
  3. What’s the best part about your job?
Being able to really taking the time to learn about a patient’s values, beliefs, and goals, and work with patients to develop a plan that is in line with their wishes. I appreciate the privilege of guiding patients through their most difficult times, and I find it incredibly rewarding.
  4. Favourite song:
    Hey Soul Sister, by Train
  5. Favourite past-time activity:
Fishing (as evident in the picture)
  6. Favourite restaurant in your community:
    Shiro Japanese Restaurant
  7. A book or article you would recommend:
I love high fantasy, so would recommend The Way of Kings, by Brian Sanderson
  8. What are you creating in the world right now?
I’m trying to foster a culture of wellness in residency one small step at a time!
  9. Best piece of advice for new physicians:
Just enjoy the journey – don’t just look forward to the end of residency, make sure to have fun along the way!
