The Bucket List Festival
The first Bucket List Festival was organized by Dr Hawley and the Ride to the Very End Team as a fundraiser for the BC Cancer Foundation’s Ride to Conquer Cancer in 2011. This was a day-long public event with presentations on a variety of topics related to living with life-threatening illness, and lots of time for attendees to meet each other and share their ideas and experience. Topics included Travel and Insurance Options, Living Wakes, Leaving a Legacy, Pain and Symptom Management, How to Navigate the Health Care System. Building on the initial success there have since been 4 more Bucket List Festivals, in Vancouver, Burnaby, Coquitlam, the North Shore and in Victoria, assisted by local hospice societies. The Division will be pleased to continue to help provide speakers and support for hospice societies and other organizations interested in hosting their own Bucket List Festival.
