Faculty Spotlight: Dr. Mathieos Belayneh

By Kelsey Jay on August 14, 2023

Site:

Surrey Memorial Hospital, BC Cancer Surrey, RCH, and New Westminster community – in that order.

What’s the best part about your job?

Having the privilege to work with a wonderful team to care for patients and their families at a time when they need it most.

Favourite song:

How much a dollar cost By Kendrick Lamar. It’s a good reminder and a powerful message.

Favourite past-time activity:

Putting on a good pair of shoes and exploring the world around me with a nice long run.

Favourite restaurant in your community:

Harambe on commercial! Best Ethiopian food in the city.

A book or article you would recommend:

Can’t Hurt Me by David Goggins.

What are you creating in the world right now?

Warmth and an eased burden in everyday interactions (trying anyhow!).

Dr. Mathieos Belayneh on a hike.

Best piece of advice for new physicians:

Build your career slowly and try different roles! That way you can find where you thrive best and balance your professional life with your personal life.
