This week, we are proud to shine our Faculty Spotlight on Dr. Manisha Sharma, a dedicated educator, researcher, and mentor whose work continues to inspire both students and colleagues alike.
1. Site:
Lionsgate Hospital on the North Shore.
2. What’s the best part about your job?
Undoubtedly the culture: the docs, allied health, nurses, social work, have welcomed me with open arms, also…SO MANY treats!!
3. Favorite song:
This is an impossible question. Recently found myself in an Etta James sort of mood (At last, Sunday kind of love). But my heart is with 50s/60s Bollywood, Mohammad Rafi, Kishore Kumar classics.
4. Favorite past- time activity:
Forest walks in lighthouse park or along the spirit trail in Ambleside.
5. Favorite restaurant in your community:
Tamarind hill in North Vancouver.
6. Favourite travel destination:
Jaipur, any beach in Goa, tea estates in the hills of Kerela
7. A book or article you would recommend:
Anything by Allan Watts. Also, recently fell in love with Robin Wall Kimmerer’s book, Braiding Sweetgrass. You see the natural world with different eyes after reading her books.
8. What are you creating in the world right now?
A new life in our new home! Still finding our feet in this place 4000 KM from where I was born and raised.
9. Best piece of advice for new physicians?
Go back and read your old med school admissions essay. Make sure you protect some semblance of the wide-eyed, naive, enthusiastic idealist you once were. We are so, SO fortunate to be physicians, remain mindful and grateful for that opportunity in some way every day.
