Faculty Spotlight: Camara Van Breemen

On this week’s faculty spotlight, we are featuring Camara Van Breemen. Read here to learn more about her favourite past time (which happens to be a lot of people’s favourite lately) and take a peak at her cute dog!

1. Site(s):
Canuck Place Children’s Hospice, British Columbia Children’s Hospice, and Home visiting – lower mainland (and sometimes to other health authorities to see Kids on our program).

2. What’s the best part about your job? 
Community Care – keeping kids at home for supported end of life care.  It’s a privilege to get to know the children and their parents and work as a team to improve quality of life for them no matter what part of the journey they are on.

3. Favourite song:
So many but I currently love listening to newest Gillian Welsch album Woodland

4. Favourite past-time activity:
Yes – I’m going to say it – PICKLEBALL

5. Favourite restaurant in your community: D
Depends on my mood – Just had a great meal at Vij’s

6. Favourite travel destination:
Philippines and India

7. A book or article you would recommend:
I just listened to an inspirational  episode on Peacemakers podcast called Affectionate Awe and Radical Kinship: Transforming lives at Homeboy industries.

8. What are you creating in the world right now?
My new garden of flowers and shrubs……..looking forward to spring and summer.

9. Best piece of advice for new physicians:
Get to know something new (not illness related) about your patient (or their caregiver) every time do a consult.
