Dr. Robin Love Appointed to the Order of British Columbia
We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Robin Love, a pioneering family and palliative care physician based in Lantzville/Nanaimo, has been appointed to the Order of British Columbia, the province’s highest form of civilian recognition.
For more than 30 years, Dr. Love has been a force for compassionate, equitable end-of-life care. As founding medical leader of the palliative care program at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, he established a groundbreaking inpatient unit, symptom-management clinic, and community-based team—models of excellence that continue to shape holistic care in the region.
He has also made a global impact: through his leadership and mentorship, Dr. Love contributed to developing Nepal’s national palliative care strategy and established a Centre of Excellence at Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital.
A dedicated educator and leader, Dr. Love has trained hundreds of healthcare professionals through University of British Columbia, University of Victoria, and international programs, inspiring generations of practitioners with empathy and resilience.
A ceremony to invest the 2025 appointees—including Dr. Love—will take place at Government House in Victoria on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Love on this extraordinary honour and celebrating his enduring legacy in palliative care both locally and around the world.
